70 Glorious Years. A concert in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee @ Holy Trinity Church
Jun 18 @ 18:00 – 20:30

Council staff can look forward to a Bank Holiday bonus to mark Queen's Platinum Jubilee next year | The Southern ReporterOur summer concert this year is a celebration of  Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum jubilee. There will be music from each decade of Her Majesty’s reign and reminiscences from members of the choir of their memories of her Majesty’s reign.

We are planning for this to be a whole community event and are inviting our  audience to arrive from around 5.00pm and to join with family and friends for a picnic on the lawn in front of the church. If it’s wet we’ll move the picnic into the Community Centre hall. There will be banners and bunting, a tombola and other raffle prizes and there will be opportunities for the audience to join in with well known music including of course the National Anthem, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia as well as favourite pop and film music.  We’re keeping a few surprises as well.

After the picnic we’ll then move into the church for the concert which will start at 6.00pm.  We have our jubilee trio, Bob Ramskill, piano, Julian Powell percussion and Marcus Cornell, Bass Guitar to add to the fun.

Tickets are priced at £12.00 and are available to buy online or direct from a choir member.  Children under 12 years of age can attend free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult.

Autumn Concert Mozart Requiem @ St Nicolas Church
Nov 12 @ 19:30 – 22:00

Atherstone Choral Society is delighted to perform the Requiem by Mozart as their autumn concert. This was the final piece of music which Mozart had started to compose before he died but sadly he died before he was able to complete it. There is much discussion about how it was finished. The Requiem was commissioned by Count Franz Walsegg-Stuppach as a memorial to his wife. The famous Lacrymosa has a hauntingly beautiful melody but the Requiem is a much loved choral piece and is in the repertoire of many choirs.

Christmas Concert, Atherstone Choral Society and Bedworth Brass Band @ Holy Trinity Church
Dec 11 @ 16:00 – 18:30

We are delighted to be performing our Christmas Concert with Bedworth Brass Band again this year.  It was the final concert we were able to perform before we went into lockdown in March 2020.  So we have very fond memories of that very successful concert and are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity to enjoy this very successful partnership again.

The programme will be a wonderful mixture of band and choir items and traditional carols for you the audience to join in with.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to get right into the Christmas spirit and there will be seasonal refreshments to add to the celebration.
